Gallery of Images In-class Demos

On this page you will find copies of the images I use in my Liberal Arts Fractals and Chaos course as part of my lectures. They are projected on the screen during lecture as part of our discussions. As it is difficult for students to copy the images in their notes by hand, I provide them here for reference. (This gallery is a work in progress, and I hope to be able to annotate and document it more completely in the future.)

  • Introduction to Fractal Shapes - a small assortment of fractals discussed in our first lecture.
  • Monks to Sierpinski - A demonstration illustrating the fact that an IFS will converge to the same attractor regardless of the figure you start with initially.
  • Guess My IFS - the home version of the exciting game show we play in class
  • XMas tree fractals - a quick and dirty Maple worksheet that produces XMas tree fractals of sorts.
  • The Chaos Game Game - amaze your friends by beating the chaos game game
