How to View and Print pdf Files
Some of the files you will find on these web pages contain mathematics notation that
has been saved in pdf format in order to overcome the limitations of html for displaying
mathematics. If you cannot view or print these files when you click on them you have two
options.
- If you are a student at the University of Scranton, go to the mathematics computer lab in St. Thomas Hall
161. The lab is configured to
automatically display and print pdf files when you click on them.
If you would rather view and print the files from your own personal
computer, you can download and install the free pdf viewer, Adobe Acrobat Reader, from
Adobe's web site. Follow the directions at their web site for installation. (Be sure to
get version 3.01 or later.) Click on the yellow image below to go to Adobe's download
site.
- On occasion I have encountered a pdf file/printer combination
which doesn't print properly (it is usually missing the bottom halves of
large mathematical symbols and brackets). If your printer dialog window or
properties tab has a checkbox labeled "Print as image", checking
this box will usually fix the problem (but it will take much longer to
print).
